First, let me apologize for the bad english you'll gonna read from here, as I am Brazilian. :)
Recently I downloaded the ISO of Leo4AllV2, planning to install it on my Core 2 Duo PC at home.
But then, suddenly appeared a white iBook G4 12.1' screen at my workplace (I work into a Intelligence Police Department, wich frequently receives illegal equipment seized by Federal Police, from smuggling), completely locked by passwords (wich we managed to crack, with the single user mode boot) and bloated with somebody's files. My superiors wanted us (me and others from my team) to make it usable, asked if we could erase completely the HDD and install a Windows XP on it.
I am very used to Windows and Linux systems, but must confess that my contact with Mac's is very little. Messing with, I discovered it could accept Windows, but only with it had a Intel processor. That is not the case, this iBook has a 1.02ghz PowerPC processor. Then, as I only have the notebook and the power cord (no installation CD's, case, anything, as I mentioned, this equipment is seized), I was thinking of trying the installation of the Leo4AllV2 I have.
But I stopped at the boot process. The notebook recognizes the DVD, it opens the "reboot to install" GUI when inserted during the normal use, but at the boot, a blinking icon (a folder icon with a question mark on it and the two Mac faces) appears for a few seconds and then the screen fades to start the normal boot with the version 10.3.9 currently installed. I also tried holding the "C" key during start, but the same behaviour described happens, only it takes more seconds to fade and start normally (the icon blinks more times).
I think of the age of the notebook, too old for the new system. Am I right? The iBook is a 1.02ghz PowerPC, 256mb ram, 30gb HDD, CD-RW/DVD-reading.
If my idea really fails, does Linux Debian for PowerPC's will work well on this notebook?
Note: The DVD is burned correctly, I think. The booting process at my home PC works fine and the installation seems to come out right.
